What is an expository essay?
The expository note to the diploma (course) is an official document, according to which the final grade for the whole project is exposed, and in the case of a thesis, a qualification is awarded.
It is extremely important to follow the rules for writing an expository note, because this document is not only presented to the commission, but will also be stored for several more years in the archive, which is regularly checked. And if inconsistencies are revealed, expect trouble.
Еxpository essay diploma: the main stages of writing
When writing an expository note to the diploma (the sample is likely to be given to you at the department), you must follow the following steps:
1. Development of literary sources on the topic.
2. Creating an introduction and conclusion. As a rule, these sections are written at the very end. In the introduction, we outline the goal and determine the tasks for solving the problem under investigation, and in conclusion we formulate the conclusions that were arrived at during the research.
3. The main part. It is written in accordance with the plan of the diploma itself.
Before you start writing an expository note, be sure to read the manual of your institution. There may be indicated some special part that is mandatory for writing in your school.
Еxpository note to the diploma: an example of correct registration
The expository note is a detailed plan for the contents of the diploma, which will reflect the necessary structural elements with the corresponding page numbers.
It is known that the easiest way is to arrange this content in the form of a table with invisible lines.
Each section of the thesis project paper in the expository note should begin with a new page with the title in bold. After the name the point is not put. And between the title of the chapter and its content, you must leave 1-2 empty lines.
Drawings, tables and other graphic objects in the expository note of the thesis and student`s course work are placed in the center of the page immediately after the reference to it in the text. The numbering is the same as the numbering of figures, tables and other graphic objects in the work itself.
If necessary or with a large number of these objects, it is better to put them into applications, rather than place them in the text. Just like in the main work, you should make out references, footnotes (subscript or text).
Now you have seen examples of the expository note of the thesis and can compose it yourself. After writing an expository note, be sure to reread it and check for punctuation and spelling errors.
This is very important, as the expository note is a kind of presentation of the whole work. It would be uncomfortable and ugly to present it to the court of the commission with illiterate design and content.
